We are pleased to announce that UCS Community Education has partnered with Courtesy Driving School to offer Driver's Training. Segments 1 and 2 are now available in all four UCS High Schools! You can find all of the course details here, however, you will not be able to register for Driver's Training classes in Eleyo. The system will indicate the class is full. 2024 Hybrid Summer School Credit Recovery

REGISTRATION CLOSES JUNE 14th Utica Community Schools is pleased to offer a hybrid summer opportunity. Students in grades 9-11 will use a nationally accredited online learning system in order to restore credit towards their high school graduation requirements. The hybrid format is a self-paced, computer-based course. While a teacher is available for assistance, direct instruction is not available. This requires students to be on task and self-motivated. Students may take up to 1 class at a time, via hybrid that they did not receive credit for. Additional classes may be taken online if time permits. Students are required to attend 10 hours of in person sessions prior to July 3, 2024. This includes orientation to the hybrid program, tests and final exams. All tests and final exams must be taken on-site. Students must earn a minimum overall score of 60% to receive a letter grade and credit for the course. Each student will be assigned a mentor teacher who will be their point of contact for any issues that may arise during the course. Teachers are available on-site Monday through Friday. Online courses for NCAA eligibility will be available upon request. Be sure to contact your counselor prior to signing up for summer school. Who would benefit from this program? Students currently in grades 9 – 11 who would benefit from an online session to restore credits toward high school graduation requirements. How do I register? Go to https://ucscommunityeducation.ce.eleyo.com/ to register online. Online registration will open on Monday, April 29, 2024, and will close on Friday, June 14, 2024. When does the summer session begin? Classes begin Monday, June 17, 2024, and end Friday, July 26, 2024. No class on Thursday July 4, 2024, or Friday July 5, 2024. Where is the location for Credit Recovery? Henry Ford II High School 11911 Clinton River Road Sterling Heights 48313 Will transportation be provided? Yes, a bus will be available at Eisenhower High School, Stevenson High School, and Utica High School. Students will need to be at their high school by 7:45 a.m. for transportation to Henry Ford II High School. Transportation will return students to their home high school between 12:00 p.m. – 12:30 p.m. for pick-up. Transportation to be indicated upon enrollment. What time can students drop-in to take tests, final exams or come in for support? 8:15 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. Free breakfast is provided 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Credit Recovery 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Free lunch is provided 12:00 p.m. – 12:30 p.m. Transportation to high school hub for pick-up Is there an orientation for the program? Yes, students are required to attend 10 hours of in person sessions by July 3, 2024. 2024 Hybrid Credit Forward - Michigan Virtual
Hybrid - Credit Forward
Utica Community Schools, in conjunction with Michigan Virtual, is pleased to offer an online learning experience to current secondary UCS students. This program will afford students an opportunity to earn an additional one-half credit toward graduation requirements per online course. Michigan Virtual is only being accepted by UCS for credit forward, not credit recovery. Students must meet with their school counselor to select the appropriate course to fulfill UCS graduation requirements. Final semester exams must be taken in the presence of a UCS employee, students will earn a letter grade that corresponds to the UCS grading policy for the online course. Policy 6210 Electronic Course Credit. The letter grade will be reflected on the student’s high school transcript, class rank and GPA points. Who would benefit from this program? Students who are looking to complete a course for graduation requirements prior to the start of the 2024-2025 school year to open their schedules for other course work. How do I register? Meet with counselor to sign up for course(s). Registration will open on Monday, April 29, 2024, and will close on Friday, May 31, 2024. When do classes begin? Classes begin Friday, May 24, 2024, and end on Friday, August 2, 2024. Students will need to begin working on coursework as soon as the course opens in May to complete the courses on time. No additional time can be given for these courses. How often should my child work on this course? The recommendation is at least 2 - 3 hours each day. This is a self-paced, computer-based course. While a teacher is available for assistance, direct instruction is not available. This requires students to be on task and self-motivated. Can my child graduate from high school early because of the credits earned through the online learning experience? No, these courses can be used to fill graduation requirements but not to graduate early. Will the final grade earned in this course final grade appear on my child’s transcript? Yes, a score of 60% or higher will be required in order for the student to receive credit for the course. The grade earned will be posted on the course history, be factored in calculating GPA and become part of the student’s official transcript and will be used to fulfill graduation requirements if your child successfully completes the course. Can my child choose to receive a credit (CR) for the course(s)? No, UCS Policy 6210 states, students will be required to take the end of the course exam provided by the electronic course agency in the presence of the UCS mentor or designee. A score of 60% or higher will be required in order for the student to receive credit for the course. The grade earned will be posted on the course history, be factored in calculating GPA and become part of the student’s official transcript. When can my child be scheduled to take the final exam? Thursday, August 1, 2024, or Friday, August 2, 2024. Where does my child take the final exam? You must email your drop request to Community Education at: communityedquestions@uticak12.org no later than Friday, June 21, 2024.
