Chess Scholars
Youth & Teen Enrichment
Develop your child's intellect through the royal game of Chess! Current research has shown a strong link between chess and academic performance in a variety of areas, including mathematics and language arts. Chess has been proven to enhance children's motivation, concentration, focus, social skills, and creativity. Each class will consist of a fun, interactive teaching period and guided practice time. Both beginner and experienced players are welcome and will learn under the guidance of an experienced Chess Scholar coach.

Crayola® Summer Camp: Legends and Lore

From sea creatures of the deep to phoenixes of the sky, every society has its legends and lore. We'll tell their stories through paintings, sculptures and other works of art. These tales may inspire awe, curiosity of surprise, but they all inspire our imaginations! Kids experiment with different art techniques using Crayola® supplies to bring their ideas to life. Each class is all about designing a one-of-a-kind mythical creature.

This year's camp will be 12 hours of fun, hard work, and learning. Camp will cover training on kicks, punches, self-defense, katas, agility drills, obstacle course, board breaking, and so much more! Uniform not required. Wear loose comfortable clothing. Dojo will provide boards, drinks, and snacks.

Pickleball Beginners Clinic

Youth, Teen, and Adult: Ages 14 and up Dive into the exciting world of pickleball with our immersive beginners clinic, designed to kickstart your journey on the court. Led by our certified pickleball instructor, 3 hour sessions are tailored for individuals who are new to the game or at level 2.0 to 3.0. Each session is a standalone class, so you can attend just one session or as many as you like. In this clinic, you'll receive personalized guidance as we focus on laying a solid foundation of pickleball fundamentals. From understanding the rules of the game to mastering essential strokes like serves, returns, third shots, volleys, dinks, and overheads. Our instructor will provide step-by-step instruction and hands-on practice to help you grasp each concept. With small class sizes limited to 12 students across 3 courts, you'll benefit from individualized attention and ample opportunities to refine your skills. Whether you're a complete beginner or have played a few times but lack confidence, this clinic is designed to equip you with the knowledge and confidence to step onto the court with ease. Comprehensive Beginner 3-Hour Standalone Program Covers: Rules: Introduction to scoring and all essential game rules. Serving and Returning: Understanding grip, purpose, positioning, placement, technique, and basic strategy. Dinking: Exploring the purpose, techniques, strategy, shifting, and communication in dinking. Transitioning from Baseline to Non-Volley Line: Focus on 3rd shot drops and drives to facilitate effective transition. Punch Volleys: Techniques for dealing with aggressive shots and "bangers". Offensive Shots: Introduction to drives, lobs, and overheads. Beginner Drills and Games: Practice sessions and games built around every shot covered above, reinforcing learning in a dynamic and engaging manner. All clinics will be held at the Eisenhower High School tennis courts. The marks on the courts are only a couple of inches off actual pickleball lines, but will not have an impact on the clinic. Please remember to bring your own paddle or opt for our camp package, which includes a new paddle for your convenience. Join us and embark on your pickleball journey with enthusiasm and excitement!

Snapology's Scientist program helps children explore their curiosities and cultivate a deep love for science by experiencing the different domains of scientific study. Students will engage with concepts from the fields of astronomy, earth science, biology, chemistry, and physics using LEGO® bricks and other interactive learning tools. Begin with the heartwarming realism of nature's young, from the gentle gaze of a fawn to playful otters, to the whimsical Kawaii style, capturing those irresistibly cute, wide-eyed creatures. Add a twist, as we imagine baby animals donning fashionable attire, blending humor with creativity. We will draw mythical baby creatures too, such as a baby Pegasus. Perfect for young artists eager to explore varied artistic styles while celebrating the charm of baby animals. $199 1 - 5 Duncan Mon.-Fri. 6/17-6/21/24 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm Cartoon Drawing Have fun drawing cartoons with Young Rembrandts as we head off to the Polynesian Island! We will chuckle and giggle while drawing parrot characters, grass skirts, and a surfing sequence. We will then venture off to SPACE! Hilarious astronauts, chimps in space, and zero gravity drawings are all in the line-up. We will come back to Earth by drawing a forest filled with comedy. Our campers will create tropical-inspired images from the Pacific. A scenic Polynesian landscape, a detailed dolphin graphic, and colorful Tiki sculptures, are just some of the drawings our campers will illustrate. We will then jet off to SPACE! Campers will create images inspired by the space program. An exciting shuttle blast off, a detailed astronaut, and the moon landing, are just some of the drawings our campers will create! After our space voyage, it's time to lace up our boots and go hiking through the forest. Campers will create a colorful forest scene, a detailed color pencil drawing, and exciting woodland animals. Horses are not only graceful and majestic, but they are also excellent subjects to draw and color. Our campers will learn how to draw horses of all shapes, sizes, and styles. We'll use different media to create colorful compositions, which help our students strengthen their coloring skills. On the final day, we will create a large drawing with pastels. Challenging drawings reward our students with a greater sense of accomplishment. Please have your camper wear an old shirt or smock to the final day. $199 1 - 6 Duncan Mon.-Fri. 7/22-7/26/24 1:00 pm-4:00 pm Young Rembrandts at Sea Young Rembrandts is taking on a colorful, seafaring voyage! Campers will begin this workshop by drawing a tropical fish graphic. We'll give our scene pop and dimension using fundamental patterning techniques and bold color choices. We will surely chuckle as we draw hilarious cartoon characters of the sea. We'll learn to add expression and movement to bring our sea characters to life in this multi-drawing session. On the final day, campers will create a bigger-than-life graphic cruise ship using the beautiful media of pastels. You will want to frame this one!
