  • 2024 Ed Ready Math

    REGISTRATION CLOSES JULY 10TH What is Ed Ready Math? Ed Ready Math is a program to help students master a range of mathematical concepts. The program will assess math skills, map strengths and weaknesses, provide personalized instruction and prepare students for grade-level expectations, as well as for their college and career aspirations. Who would benefit from this program? Students entering grades 6 – 12 in the fall of 2024 are looking for an online experience to prepare for the next level of mathematics. How do I register? Click on the "Enroll now" button on the right side of the screen. Online registration will open on Monday, May 8, 2023, and will close on Friday, June 16, 2023 After registration you will receive an email with further directions on how to register and sign-in to the course in the Ed Ready platform from TeachingandLearning@uticak12.org **Keys will be sent beginning Monday, June 12, 2023– It may take 24-48 hours after registration to receive key** When do classes begin? Classes begin Monday, June 17, 2024, and end Friday, July 26, 2024. What grade level math programs are available? Math 4, Math 5, Math 6, Math 7, Math 8, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Trig/Pre-Calculus, SAT Math Prep Which course should I register my child for? We suggest registering your child for the next math class they are scheduled to take during the 24-25 school year. Students will take an assessment at the beginning of the course. Students will be assigned content, based on the results of the assessment. As the student progresses through the course, they may be assigned content as low as grade 4 up to and including the course in which they are registered. This will allow students to get exposure to the course content prior to the start of classes in the fall. What time is the class? This is a self-paced, self-directed course, that can be done at home anytime of the day. How often should my child work on this course? The recommendation is a least 1 hour each day. Is there a cost for this program? No, this program is supported by grant funds for the summer of 2024. Will my child need their school computer? Yes. Your student may use their school issued device or home device. Laptops will be required for most programs (Deployment Information Below). Students with their current UCS laptop can use this for their summer school course. Students that turned in a laptop as part of their elementary or junior high exit procedures, will need to have a new one redeployed. This score increases toward a target score of 100, indicating mastery has been demonstrated for all skills contained within the goal's scope of study. Will support be available for my child?   • 2024 Hybrid Summer School Credit Recovery

    Credit Recovery registration is currently paused and will reopen on Monday, June 17th Utica Community Schools is pleased to offer a hybrid summer opportunity. Students in grades 9-11 will use a nationally accredited online learning system in order to restore credit towards their high school graduation requirements. The hybrid format is a self-paced, computer-based course. While a teacher is available for assistance, direct instruction is not available. This requires students to be on task and self-motivated. Students may take up to 1 class at a time, via hybrid that they did not receive credit for. Additional classes may be taken online if time permits. Students are required to attend 10 hours of in person sessions prior to July 3, 2024. This includes orientation to the hybrid program, tests and final exams. All tests and final exams must be taken on-site. Students must earn a minimum overall score of 60% to receive a letter grade and credit for the course. Each student will be assigned a mentor teacher who will be their point of contact for any issues that may arise during the course. Teachers are available on-site Monday through Friday. Online courses for NCAA eligibility will be available upon request. Be sure to contact your counselor prior to signing up for summer school. Who would benefit from this program? Students currently in grades 9 – 11 who would benefit from an online session to restore credits toward high school graduation requirements. How do I register? Yes, a bus will be available at Eisenhower High School, Stevenson High School, and Utica High School. Students will need to be at their high school by 7:45 a.m. for transportation to Henry Ford II High School. Transportation will return students to their home high school between 12:00 p.m. – 12:30 p.m. for pick-up. Transportation to be indicated upon enrollment. What time can students drop-in to take tests, final exams or come in for support? 8:15 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. Free breakfast is provided 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Credit Recovery 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Free lunch is provided 12:00 p.m. – 12:30 p.m. Transportation to high school hub for pick-up Is there an orientation for the program? Students must attend an in-person session to get access to online courses the first week of summer classes (June 17, 2024 – June 21, 2024), this will count as part of the required 10 hours.     AEROBIC JAZZ - TOTAL BODY WORKOUT If you like to dance, high energy and get jiggy with it, this class is for you! The first 30 minutes we work on the upper body muscles, waist, sit-ups, lower leg muscles, triceps, biceps and other major areas. Light hand weights are optional. The other 30 minutes we will dance to fun jazzy steps to get you hooping and hollering while listening to today's music. Bring a workout mat, wear comfortable clothing and supportive shoes.   • Chess Scholars

    Develop your child's intellect through the royal game of Chess! Current research has shown a strong link between chess and academic performance in a variety of areas, including mathematics and language arts. Chess has been proven to enhance children's motivation, concentration, focus, social skills, and creativity. Each class will consist of a fun, interactive teaching period and guided practice time. Both beginner and experienced players are welcome and will learn under the guidance of an experienced Chess Scholar coach.
  • Children's Yoga (3-9 years old)

    Yoga can help children regulate their emotions, reduce impulsivity, and boost both concentration and self-esteem. This 60 minute yoga class is best suited for 3-9 years olds. Students will "act out" an exciting story using yoga poses, participate in yoga games, and do mindfulness activities or crafts connected to a weekly theme. Students should dress in comfortable clothes, bring a water bottle, and an exercise mat or towel.

    From sea creatures of the deep to phoenixes of the sky, every society has its legends and lore. We'll tell their stories through paintings, sculptures and other works of art. These tales may inspire awe, curiosity of surprise, but they all inspire our imaginations! Kids experiment with different art techniques using Crayola® supplies to bring their ideas to life. Each class is all about designing a one-of-a-kind mythical creature.

  • Eagles Beginner Tennis Camp (14-17 years old)

    This player has either no or limited tennis experience and is still working on getting the ball over the net consistently. Intended for players looking to get into tennis or learn to play for their high school teams. Instruction includes stroke production, basic court position, and singles and doubles strategy. We are also adding live ball drills and games to the class as skills progress.
  • Eagles Junior Tennis Camp One (13-17 years old)

    TWO-HOUR BLOCK FOR BOYS & GIRLS WITH HIGH SCHOOL, USTA, OR PRIVATE LESSON EXPERIENCE This class offers the highest level of instruction and gives students the opportunity to progress in tennis at a much faster rate than in the regular season. All aspects of the game are covered, including stroke production, singles and doubles strategy, conditioning, and sportsmanship. Classes will include advanced stroke development through fed-ball drills and competitive live-ball drills and games.
  • Eaglets Middle School Tennis Camp

    A class that is designed for players that can hit consistently and are looking to learn some stroke strategy for playing tennis. Emphasis on live ball drills with competitive point play to enhance groundstrokes, volleys, serve and return, and overheads. Players will be introduced to match play, how to win points, and prepare for high school tennis.

We will practice measuring, mixing, pouring, and "cooking" while we explore different foods and highlight the importance of nutrition. A new food activity will be introduced each day.   • Eisenhower Football Skills Camp

    Open to athletes in grades 7th - 12th. Students will learn individual skills as well as offensive and defensive plays used at Eisenhower. Students will also learn the benefits of working together as a team. Attire: Gym clothes and cleats. Bring a snack for lunch and a personalized water bottle.

    Take advantage of this unique speed and strength development program at Ike.
